ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team heads out on the road to take on Lindenwood University in a pair of College Hockey America games from Lindenwood Ice Arena on Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9. Friday's game starts at 7 p.m. EST, while Saturday's contest begins at 2 p.m. EST.
The Tigers (9-13-4, 5-7-0 CHA) are looking to snap a three-game losing streak after falling 3-2 in overtime to CHA rival Mercyhurst University on Saturday from the Gene Polisseni Center.
Jordan Marchese (Mississauga, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) and
Hunter Barnett (Caledon, Ontario/Mississauga Jr. Chiefs) scored first period goals for RIT, while goaltender
Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) made 40 saves.
Senior captain
Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) leads the team in scoring with 16 points on nine goals and seven assists, while
Brittney Gout (Caledon, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) has a team-best 12 assists and is second with 15 points.
Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) leads all RIT defensemen with 13 points on five goals and eight assists.
Lanteigne, the reigning CHA Goaltender of the Month, leads all of Division I with 857 saves and is third with a .941 save percentage. She also has a 2.11 goals against average, while playing in all 26 games. Lanteigne is closing in on RIT's all-time saves record and recently surpassed 2,000 for her career.
Lindenwood enters the weekend series with a 5-17-2 overall record and is 1-10-1 in league play. The Lady Lions were most recently in action on Jan. 25-26 at Mercyhurst, dropping both games by scores of 2-0 and 4-2. Nicole Guagliardo leads Lindenwood in scoring with 13 points on five goals and assists in 23 games. Jada Burke is right behind with 12 points on a team-best total of eight goals and four assists. Sophie Wolf is 2-11-1 in net with a 2.66 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.
RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 12-9-5. The Tigers won both earlier meetings this season by scores of 5-2 and 3-2 from the Polisseni Center on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
The Tigers are currently fourth in the CHA standings with 10 points, three behind Syracuse for third. Lindenwood is sixth with three points. Each team has eight regular season games remaining in league play.
