ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (3-2) rolled to a 9-0 win over St. John Fisher College (0-1) at the Midtown Athletic Club Saturday.
RIT took all three doubles matches, two in decisive fashion. At first doubles,
Jacob Meyerson (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) and
Brennan Bull (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham Seaholm) rolled to an 8-1 win over Dustin McCullough and Jonathan Harper.
Gabriel von Kessel (Sarasota, FL/Riverview) and
Jake Wolicki (Canton, MA/Canton) took down Jordan O'Connell and Tim Christman, 8-2. In what was the closest match of the afternoon,
Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) and
Patrick Mathews (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) secured an 8-6 victory over James Pelto and John Miller.
RIT won all six singles matches in straight sets. Bull, Mathews and
David Trimmer (York, PA/Dallastown) all won by identical 6-1, 6-2 scores. Lim defeated Christman, 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles, while Lowitt won 6-3, 6-4 at second singles, and Wolicki secured the shutout by defeating Harper at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-4.
RIT hosts Liberty League foe Skidmore College from Midtown Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
