Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Men's Ice Hockey Takes Down Army, 4-2

WEST POINT, N.Y. – RIT senior forward Shawn Cameron (Sherbrooke, Quebec/Cumberland Grads) notched a goal and an assist to lead the Tigers to a 4-2 victory at Army in Atlantic Hockey action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • RIT came out firing, peppering Army junior goalie Trevin Kozlowki with five shots in the opening minute, before freshman forward Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, AK/Flin Flon Bombers) fed Cameron from behind the Black Knights' net for a one-timer inside the right post 1:07 into regulation.
  • The Tigers made it a 2-0 game with 10:15 on the first-period clock. Senior defenseman Darren Brady (Lake Orion, MI/New Jersey Titans) sent a nice cross-ice feed from the left boards to freshman forward Colton Trumbla (Winnipeg, Manitoba/St. Michael's Buzzers) for a scoring one-timer down low.
  • Junior forward Jake Hamacher (Corona, CA/Dubuque Fighting Saints) pushed the Tigers to a 3-0 lead with 12:51 lead in the third off an assist from Cameron, but Army got on the board less than two minutes later to pull back within two.
  • The Black Knights made it a one-goal game with a power-play tally with 8:29 left in regulation.
  • Army looked to equalize, pulling Kozlowski with 1:30 left in regulation. However, Walker took a puck down the right boards after a Black Knight turnover and scored on a long shot into the empty net with 1:03 remaining to put the game out of reach.
GAME NOTES
  • Junior goalie Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) finished the game with 26 saves, including 10 in the first period, as Army out-shot the Tigers, 28-21.
  • Cameron notched his team-leading sixth goal of the season while Hammacher's assist was his team-leading 10th points of the year.
  • RIT (8-4-1, 5-3-1) earned its fifth conference win of the season while breaking a three-game pointless streak, including a 2-1 loss to the Black Knights on Friday.
