ROCHESTER, NY -- Senior
Kelly Waters (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and sophomore
Katie Hobler (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) of the RIT Women's Volleyball team were each named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Honorable Mention All-America. Hobler was a third team selection in 2018, while Waters earns her first All-America honor.
Hobler, a 2018 AVCA Third Team All-America selection, led RIT and was second in the Liberty League with 469 kills, averaging 4.65 kills per set. A 2019 First Team All-Liberty League selection, Hobler was eighth in the league with a .281 hitting percentage. She had a season-best 24 kills against SUNY Cortland Nov. 2.
Waters, a Second Team All-Liberty League selection, played in all 30 matches, while appearing in 102 sets. She finished second in the Liberty League hitting .336 and tied for sixth in the league with 59 total blocks, averaging 0.58 per set. Waters had a season-high seven blocks against Marywood Oct. 5, and had 16 kills at Vassar College on Oct. 12.
RIT finished with an 18-12 overall record and was 5-2 in the Liberty League. The Tigers were defeated by Ithaca College in the Liberty League Semifinal.
