ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (2-5-1) women's hockey team won its second straight game Saturday with a 4-2 win over Brown University (0-2-0).
Shots were 29-28 in favor of RIT. The Tigers went 2-for-8 with the man advantage, while holding the Bears to one goal in seven power play chances. The Tigers took seven penalties for 14 minutes, while the Bears took nine penalties for 18 minutes.
Rachel Goff (Naperville, IL/Chicago Mission) scored a pair of goals for RIT, while
Logan Land (Turkey Point, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic) and
Jordan Marchese (Mississauga, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) each scored. Goff and Land finished with three points apiece with Goff adding an assist, and Land had two helpers.
Taylor Baker (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate Institute) finished with a pair of assists, and
Jessi O'Leary (Woodstock, New Brunswick/Notre Dame Hounds) won her second straight game in net for the Tigers, making 26 saves.
Darby Melia and Maybelline Beiring each scored for Brown. Calla Isaac took the loss in net for the Bears, making 16 saves.
RIT led 2-0 after the first 20 minutes on goals from Land and Marchese. Land gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead on her power play goal at 7:46 of the first period on assists from
Taylor Baker (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate Institute) and Goff. Marchese gave RIT a two-goal lead on her goal on assists from Land and
Reaghan Pietrowski (Curtice, OH/Detroit Honeybaked).
Brown pulled back to within a goal on a Melia tally 1:22 into the second period on an assist from Shay Maloney. Goff scored two straight goals, increasing the RIT lead to 4-1 on her second of the game at 15:00 of the period on assists from Land and Baker.
Beiring tallied at 16:06 of the third period to make it a 4-2 final.
RIT returns to action on Friday, Nov. 1, at Syracuse University at 7 p.m.
