ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (10-3, 4-1-0 women's soccer team defeated Rensselaer (5-6-2, 2-4-0 Liberty League) 3-0 on Senior Day at Tiger Stadium. RIT head coach
Liz Masterson won her 100th career game at RIT.
Shots were even at 9-9. The Engineers took three corner kicks to one for the Tigers.
Christine Cataldo-Smith (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) scored two goals for RIT, while
Abbey Saia (Monroe, CT/Masuk) tallied a goal.
Alyssa Salls (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) got the win in net for RIT, making five saves. Joey Lyons took the loss for Rensselaer, making three saves.
Caatldo-Smith gave RIT a 1-0 lead on her goal off an assist from
Piper Zimmerman (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) in the 13th minute. Saia made it 2-0 RIT on her goal in the 62nd minute. Cataldo-Smith put the game away with her second goal of the game in the 64th minute off an assist from MIa White.
RIT returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 24, when the Tigers host No. 17 the University of Rochester at 4 p.m. on the grass at Tiger Stadium.
