TROY, NY -- The RIT (4-8-1, 2-4-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team was defeated 3-2 in overtime at No. Rensselaer (13-1-1, 5-0-1 Liberty League) Saturday afternoon. The Engineers tallied the game-winner in the 100th minute.
Shots were 15-13 in favor of Rensselaer. Corner kicks were 2-0 in favor of the Engineers.
Nate Verso (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area) and
Simon Garno (Hilton, NY/Hilton) each scored for RIT.
Spencer Raymond-Smith (Stow, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) took the loss in net for RIT, making five saves. Matt LaBranche picked up the win for the Engineers, making three saves.
Nate Verso (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area) gave RIT a 1-0 lead on his unassisted goal in the 49th minute. The Engineers tied the game on a goal from Trevor Bisson in the 84th minute. Dylan Confair gave the Engineers a 2-1 lead on his goal in the 86th minute.
Simon Garno (Hilton, NY/Hilton) tied the game at 2-2 on his goal with 20 seconds remaining in regulation off an assist from
Nick Simone (Hilton, NY/Hilton). Josh Gaudiano won the game on a penalty kick in the 100th minute.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 26, versus Union College at 1 p.m. on RIT's Turf Field.
