Women's soccer wins fifth straight game with 3-0 win over Skidmore College

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (9-3-0, 4-1-0 Liberty League) women's soccer team won its fifth straight game with a 3-0 win over Skidmore College (6-4-2, 1-4-0 Liberty League) Friday afternoon to help kick-off RIT Brock City Homecoming and Family Weekend.

Shots were 18-6 in favor of RIT. The Tigers took 10 corner kicks to none for the Thoroughbreds. Christine Cataldo-Smith (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury), Courtney McHale (Newton, NJ/Newton) and Jessica Jones (Holden, MA/Wachusett) each scored for the Tigers. Alyssa Salls (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) got the win in net, making one save. Ave Keller took the loss for Skidmore, making eight saves.

Cataldo-Smith gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead on her team-best seventh goal of the season in the 24th minute. Abbey Saia (Monroe, CT/Masuk) got passed a Skidmore defender and drove down the flank. She sent a service into Mia White (Littleton, CO/Rocky Mountain Deaf School), who flicked the ball to Cataldo-Smith who tapped it home to give the Tigers the lead.

RIT took a 2-0 lead just before halftime on McHale's second goal of the season. Kayla Grossman (Sewell, NJ/Clearview Regional) began the play with a pass out to Madison Corso (Honolulu, HI/Kaiser) on the wing. She sent a pass in to McHale who banged home a shot to give the Tigers a 2-0 halftime lead.

Jones put the game away with her goal in the 60th minute off a RIT corner kick. Skidmore attempted to clear the loose ball, but Jones was there first and sent in a shot that beat Keller in the right corner to make it a 3-0 final.

Today's win was the fourth straight clean sheet for RIT. The Tigers have not allowed a goal in 415 minutes, dating back to the Clarkson game on Sept. 28. RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, against Rensselaer. Kick-off at Tiger Stadium is 2 p.m. Prior to the game, the Tigers will honor the Class of 2020.
