ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (14-8) women's volleyball team won its eighth straight match with a 3-1 win at the University of Rochester Wednesday evening. After dropping the first set, 19-25, the Tigers won the next three sets, 25-15, 25-19, 25-22.
"We settled in after Rochester got off to a really good start on their senior night," said RIT head Coach
Jim Lodes. "I thought we played balanced and purposeful once we got into the rhythm of the match."
Taylor Higgins (Peru, NY/Peru) led RIT with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Katie Hobler (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) tallied a match-high 17 kills and added nine digs, while
Joelle Marston (Roxbury, NJ/Roxbury) finished with eight kills.
Brianna Ellis (Wayne, PA/Radnor) finished with 29 assists, and senior
Maria Simonetti (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) had 18 digs.
Allie DeRubertis led the Yellowjackets with 13 kills and 15 digs, while Isabelle Miranda handed out 33 assists.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. when the Tigers host Medaille College as part of RIT's Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.
