CANTON, NY -- The RIT (4-6-1, 2-2-0 Liberty League) men's soccer team won a critical Liberty League game with a 3-2 win at St. Lawrence (4-6-1, 1-3-1 Liberty League) University Saturday afternoon.
Shots were 10-5 in favor of St. Lawrence. The Tigers took the lone corner kick of the game.
Jared Short (Grafton, WI/Cedarburg) scored two goals, while
Simon Garno (Hilton, NY/Hilton) scored.
Nick Simone (Hilton, NY/Hilton) finished with two assists and
Spencer Raymond-Smith (Stow, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) got the win in net for RIT, making four saves. Robert Reynolds scored each of the Saints goals. Ben Woelfinger took the loss in net for the Saints, making one save.
Reynolds gave St. Lawrence a 1-0 lead on his goal in the 26th minute. Short tied the score at 1-1 on his first goal of the game in 32nd minute. Simone slid a pass through to Short and he fired a low shot that beat Woelfinger.
Garno gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead on his goal in the 59th minute off an assist from Simone. Short gave RIT a two-goal lead on his second of the game in the 64th minute. Reynolds cut the RIT to one on his goal in the 87th minute.
RIT returns to action on Friday, Oct. 18, at Skidmore College. Kick-off from Saratoga Springs, N.Y. is 4 p.m.
