Women's tennis picks up third straight shutout win, 9-0 over Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (3-0) wrapped up the 2018 fall season with a 9-0 shutout win over Nazareth College (6-1) at the RIT Tennis Courts Sunday evening. RIT won all three dual matches this fall by shutout.
 
Sophomore Kristen Zablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) stayed perfect in singles, improving to 7-0, earning a 6-0, 6-1 win over Maelah Nadeau at the fourth singles position. At first singles, Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jackie Lisak, while Anne Taylor (Beaver, PA/Beaver) won 6-0, 6-2 over Liz Karstedt at second singles.
 
Shayna GInster, Claire Casalnova (Mars, PA/Pine Richland) and Kirsten Auble (Portland, OR/Sunset) also secured singles wins.
 
In doubles play, Zablonski and Taylor rolled to an 8-1 win over Erin Shantz and Brooke Murphy at first doubles, while the second doubles team of Ying and Ginster and third doubles pairing of Casalnova and Annie Steinbrink (Upper Dublin, PA/Upper Dublin) won by identical 8-4 scores.
 
RIT was originally scheduled to play St. John Fisher at noon today, but the match was postponed until the spring due to rain and unplayable court conditions.
 
The Tigers return to action in February, 2019. RIT will take on University of Rochester on Feb. 20.
