Men's tennis picks up first dual victory of 2018-19 season, 9-0 over Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (1-0) won its first dual match of the season, rolling to a 9-0 victory over Nazareth College (0-2) on Sunday evening from the RIT Tennis Courts.
 
RIT secured all three doubles wins to open the match. The second doubles team of Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) and Gabriel von Kessel (Sarasota, FL/Pine View) rolled to an 8-0 shutout win over Tommy Daviau and Patrick Dowdle. Brennan Bull () and Mac Yang Li (Montreal, Quebec/IMG Academy) earned an 8-3 win at first doubles and Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) and Jake Wolicki (Canton, MA/Canton) earned a victory by the same score at third doubles.
 
Bull earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at first singles over Ryley Amond, while Lowitt won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles. David Trimmer (York, PA/Dallastown) was flawless in winning 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles, while Yang Li and Wolicki won by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores. Lim secured the shutout with a 6-2, 6-0 win at fifth singles over Kellen Boyles.
 
The Tigers also had a handful of student-athletes compete at the 2018 ITA Championships over the weekend. Lowitt, Bull and Lim represented RIT.
 
RIT was originally scheduled to play St. John Fisher at noon today, but the match was postponed until the spring due to rain and unplayable court conditions.
 
The Tigers will return to action on Feb. 10, 2019 at Liberty League foe Vassar College.
