RIT returns 21 players, including senior forward
Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard), who led the team in scoring last season and has 27 career goals entering her final year. On defense, seniors
Logan Land (Turkey Point, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic),
Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep),
Christa Vuglar (Crystal Lake, IL/Chicago Mission) and
Brinna Dochniak (Marine on St. Croix, MN/Stillwater) will lead the way.
All three goaltenders return after each played at least 11 games between the pipes last season. Lanteigne, a junior, led the team by playing in 20 contests, while sophomore
Jessi O'Leary (Woodstock, New Brunswick/Notre Dame Hounds) appeared in 12 games and senior
Jenna de Jonge (Abbotsford, British Columbia/George Elliot) saw action in 11 games.
Cornine and sophomore
Jordan Marchese (Mississauga, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) will serve as assistant captains in 2018-19. Friday also marks the RIT regular season coaching debut of
Chad Davis, named the Bruce B. Bates Women's Hockey Coach last month. He won 150 games over the last seven seasons at Division III Adrian College (2011-18).
Holy Cross begins its first season as a full-fledged member of Hockey East in 2018-19. Last season, the Crusaders played Division I and II teams, finishing 16-9-3. Seniors Maeve Reilly and Julie Matthias return after scoring 28 and 26 points respectively a season ago. In goal, sophomore Julia Pelletier is back after going 7-2-3 in 2017-18 with a 1.47 goals against average and a .928 save percentage.
RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 11-3-2. Last season, the Tigers earned a 2-2 tie and 3-2 win at Holy Cross. O'Leary made 27 saves in the 3-2 win for her first collegiate victory, while Gout and
Baylee Trani (Huntington Beach, CA/New England Hockey Club) scored their first collegiate goals.
