GENEVA, NY - The RIT women's tennis team sent student-athletes to the ITA Northeast Regional Championship hosted by William Smith College on Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23.

The doubles team of Anne Taylor (Beaver, PA/Beaver) and Kristen Zablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) advanced to the quarterfinals. Taylor and Zablonski rolled to an 8-3 win over Haley Sherrard and Grace van Tartwijk of St. Lawrence and knocked off Alyssa Baldi and Navya Yemula of The College of New Jersey in the second round, 9-7. Taylor and Zablonski would fall to Coco Kulle and Flyora Shiyanova of New York University in the quarterfinals.

Taylor and Shayna Ginster (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) both won their first round matches in the main singles draw. Taylor defeated Sherrard of St. Lawrence, 6-1, 6-3, while Ginster recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win over Carly Jefferson of St. Lawrence.

RIT is right back in action on Wednesday with a home contest against SUNY Cortland that is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.
