ROCHESTER, NY – The Hillside Family of Agencies along with Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield have once again teamed up with RIT and the University of Rochester men's soccer teams to put on the seventh annual Hillside Community Shield, a fundraiser aimed at supporting the youth and families served by Hillside through the game of soccer. This year's game will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at Fauver Stadium on the campus of the University of Rochester.
The Tigers come into Tuesday's game with a 3-0-0 record after a 4-1 win over Keuka College last Wednesday. Rochester, ranked ninth in United Soccer Coaches Division III Men's Soccer national poll, is also 3-0-0 on the season after a 2-1 win over Hobart College last Saturday.
Last year the Tigers fell to Rochester 5-1 at Tiger Stadium. Rochester's Geoffrey Rouin led the way with a hat-trick for the Yellowjackets.
Anthony DeFeo (Rochester, NY/Hilton) scored RIT's lone goal in the 55th minute, while
Peter Cinibulk (Bellbrook, OH/Bellbrook) took the loss in net, making three saves.
Jared Short (Grafton, WI/Cedarburg) scored a natural hat-trick for RIT in Wednesday's win over Keuka. It was the first hat-trick for a RIT player since 2011.
Nick Simone (Hilton, NY/Hilton) had three assists, and
Will Sokol (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) got the win in net, making four saves.
The Yellowjackets are coming off a 2-1 win over Hobart to earn their third win of 2018. Rochester's Josh Cooley broke a scoreless tie in the 70th minute, converting on a cross from Ryan Aspenleiter. Aspenleiter would score in the 84th
minute to secure the win.
Nick Simone (Hilton, NY/Hilton) leads RIT in scoring eight points on two goals and four assists.
Will Sokol (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) has all three wins in net for the Tigers, with a 0.68 goals against average and two shutouts.
