Balanced attack lifts women's lacrosse to 20-8 win at Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY -- The RIT (6-6, 4-3 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team defeated Bard College (2-6, 0-5 Liberty League) 20-8 in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Tigers finish the week with a 2-1 record, all in league play and are right in the hunt for a postseason berth.

Shots were 34-19 in favor of RIT, who held a slight 18-16 ground ball advantage. The Tigers won 22-of-29 draw controls, went 10-of-11 on clearing chances, and converted 4-of-6 free position opportunities.

Kendall Jones (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) led RIT with five goals, while Steph Darrell (East Norhtport, NY/St. Anthony's) tallied four goals. Emily Livecchi (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) tallied three goals and four points, while Meghan Donahue (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) scored three goals. Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) who tallied nine goals yesterday at Vassar, scored two more in today's win. Rebekah Snitkoff (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) got the win in net, making five saves.

Nicole Ellin led Bard with three goals, while Marion Adams tallied a goal and an assist. Kaylynn Tran took the loss in net, making eight saves.

Bard led early in the first half on two straight goals from Elin, taking a 2-1 lead on her goal off an assist from Marion Adams at the 25:33 mark of the half. The Tigers ran off four straight goals, taking a 5-2 lead on Jones' second goal of the half. After a Bard goal cut the Tigers lead to 5-3, RIT ended the first half scoring nine straight times to lead 14-3 at the break. Livecchi and Jones each scored twice in the run.

The Raptors opened the second half scoring two straight, cutting the Tigers lead to 14-5 on Melissa Rosenthal's goal with 27:15 to play. RIT scored five straight goals, taking a 19-5 lead on Donahue's goal off an assist from Livecchi with 14:49 remaining. Jones added a late goal, while Adams and Ellin scored for Bard to make it a 20-8 final.

RIT returns to action on Wednesday, April 11 when the Tigers host the University of Rochester at 6 p.m. on RIT's Turf field.
