Fallone scores nine goals for women's lacrosse in loss at league foe Vassar

Fallone tallies career-high nine goals; one off single-game record

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- Despite a career-high nine goals from sophomore Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield), the RIT (5-6, 3-3 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team lost 19-13 at Vassar College (3-5, 2-1 Liberty League) Friday afternoon. The nine goals are one shy of RIT's single-game record of 10, set by Sage Sarkis in 2014.

Fallone tallied seven of her nine goals in the second half. She takes over the team lead with 42 goals in 11 games this season. Emily Livecchi (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) added two goals and an assist, while Maegan Schmauder (Franklin, MA/Franklin) tallied a goal and an assist. Liz Bova (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) had three ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Schmauder led the Tigers with four caused turnovers. Paulina Goodermote (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) started in net for the Tigers and played the first five minutes. Rebekah Snitkoff (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) made eight saves in relief, but was saddled with the loss.

Tessa Waters and Fiona MacLeod led Vassar with seven points apiece. Waters tallied six goals, while MacLeod dished out four assists. Alessandra Fable tallied three goals. Emily Chancey got the win in net, making 10 saves.

Vassar opened the game scoring the first six goals, taking a 6-0 lead on Fable's goal at the 23:47 mark of the half. Livecchi broke the Brewers run with her goal at 21:34. Fallone tallied her first with 17:21 remaining in the half, cutting the Vassar lead to 6-2.

The Brewers answered with three straight goals, extending their lead to 9-2 on Olivia O'Loughlin's goal with 9:07 to play. Goals from Schmauder, Fallone and Livecchi cut the Vassar lead to 9-5 late in the half, but the Brewers scored the final two goals to lead 11-5 at the break.

Fallone scored seven of RIT's eight goals in the second half, while Colette Rigas (Marietta, NY/Marcellus) tallied the other. Fallone scored her ninth with 53 seconds remaining, and had a chance to tie the record inside the final 20 seconds, but her free position shot was saved.

Shots were 38-33 in favor of Vassar, who held a slight 16-15 ground ball edge. The Tigers went 22-of-27 on clearing attempts, and converted 4-of-8 free position attempts.

RIT is right back in action on Saturday at league foe Bard College. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
