ITHACA, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (8-3, 2-2 Liberty League) evened its record in Liberty League play, earning a hard-fought, 6-3 win at Ithaca College (3-7, 1-5 Liberty League) from Glazer Arena on Thursday evening. RIT has won three consecutive matches and six of its last seven.

The Tigers got off to a great start, jumping out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. The first doubles team of Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Shayna Ginster (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) earned an 8-3 win over Kathryn Shaffer and Caroline Dunn, while the second doubles duo of Claire Casalnova (Mars, PA/Pine Richland) and Kristen Zablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) recorded an 8-4 victory over Taylor Ginestro and Brianna Ruback. RIT's third doubles team of Annie Steinbrink (Upper Dublin, PA/Upper Dublin) and Maddy Price (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) made it a clean sweep, picking up an 8-5 win over Sara Steinberg and Parley Hannan.

Ginster, who played collegiately for Ithaca last season before transferring to RIT, earned a crucial point for the Tigers at second singles, rolling to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Shaffer. After Ithaca recorded two quick wins to make it 4-2. RIT's Zablonski clinched the match with her 16th win of the season, 7-6, 6-2 over Ginestro at fourth singles. Julia Smolowitz (Marlborough, MA/Hudson) picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Hannan at sixth singles.

The Tigers look to stay hot, as league foe Vassar College comes to town for a match on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Midtown Athletic Center.
