Box Score ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (8-6, 2-4 Liberty League) dropped its final home match of the 2017-18 season, falling to Liberty League competitor St. Lawrence University (9-9, 6-1 Liberty League), 6-3 at the Midtown Athletic Club Saturday afternoon. Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Shayna Ginster (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) combined to score all three RIT points on the afternoon. The duo combined to garner RIT's first point with an 8-2 win at first doubles over Lia Petersen and Emily Wyman.
Ying doubled up on Wyman, earning a 6-3, 6-2 win at first singles, while Ginster knocked off Petersen at second singles, 6-2, 6-4.
The Saints held a 2-1 lead after doubles and upped its lead to 4-1 after wins at third and fourth doubles. After Ying and Ginster secured singles wins to cut the St. Lawrence lead to 4-3, Haley Sherrard and Maddie Nasch clinched the win for the Saints at the bottom two singles positions.
RIT is back in action on Tuesday with a road match at SUNY Geneseo that gets underway at 4 p.m. RIT wraps up the regular season with Liberty League matches at Union and Bard next weekend. The Tigers need to win at least one match to secure a Liberty League postseason berth.
