ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (7-7, 5-4 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team trailed by three goals at halftime, but rallied with six second-half goals to beat Clarkson University (10-4, 4-3 Liberty League) 10-8 in Liberty League action from cold and blustery Turf Field Saturday afternoon. With the win, RIT remains in the sixth and final playoff spot in the Liberty League standings.
Shots were 29-27 in favor of RIT, while the Tigers won the ground ball battle 29-24. The Tigers won 11-of-20 draw controls, went 25-of-26 on clearing attempts and were 3-of-10 on free position attempts.
Emily Livecchi (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) led RIT with six points on three goals and three assists. 
Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) tallied two goals, while 
Maegan Schmauder (Franklin, MA/Franklin) had a goal and an assist. 
Colette Rigas (Marietta, NY/Marcellus) had six draw controls, while 
Savannah Clemens (Livonia, NY/Livonia) led the Tigers with four ground balls. Schmauder and 
Liz Bova (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) each caused three turnovers. 
Rebekah Snitkoff (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) got the win in net, making seven saves in the second half.
Katie Sergeant, Jaid Baytos and Emma Andrews each scored two goals for Clarkson. Abby Collins had a goal and an assist, and Samantha Gladd took the loss in net, making 10 saves.
Clarkson opened the game tallying the first three goals, taking a 3-0 lead on Sergeant's goal at the 21:23 mark of the half. Fallone broke the run with her goal off an assist from Schmauder, cutting the Clarkson lead to 3-1. goals from Aubrey Borgesi and Andrews gave the Golden Knights a 5-1 lead with 13:06 to play. Consecutive goals from Livecchi at 7:06 and 6:40 respectively cut the Clarkson lead to 5-3. Collins and Boytos scored to make it 7-3 Golden Knights, but Schmauder scored with 11 seconds remaining in the half off an assist from Livecchi to make it 7-4 Clarkson at halftime.
Livecchi cut the lead to 7-5 on her free position goal early in the second half. 
Steph Darrell (East Norhtport, NY/St. Anthony's) made it 7-6 Clarkson with her goal at the 22:41 mark. Rigas tied the score at 7-7 on her goal with 22:24 remaining in regulation, and Maddie Dillabaugh gave the Tigers their first lead with her first goal of the season with 12:32 remaining. Fallone scored off a feed from Livecchi to extend the Tigers lead to 9-7, while 
Kendall Jones (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) made it 10-7 with her goal from Livecchi with 5:50 remaining. Boytos would add a late goal for Clarkson to make it a 10-8 final.
The eight goals allowed by the Tigers ties a season low.
RIT returns to action on Wednesday, April 18 when the Tigers host The College at Brockport at 4 p.m. on RIT's Turf Field.
