ITHACA, NY – The RIT men's tennis team (6-7, 0-4 Liberty League) returned to action for the first time in April, falling to Liberty League rival Ithaca College (4-7, 4-2 Liberty League), 8-1 at Glazer Arena on Tuesday afternoon.
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Nick Lim (West Caldwell, NJ/West Caldwell) earned RIT's lone point, earning a hard-fought 8-6 win over Sam McGrath and Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos at second doubles. At third doubles, the duo of
Roger Peckham (Westlake, OH/Lake Ridge Academy) and
Spencer Lowitt (Syosset, NY/Syosset) battled Ithaca's Liam Spiegel and Garrett Boleslav to even at 8-8. In the tiebreaker, Ithaca would prevail, 7-5 to earn the 9-8 win.
Ithaca would win all six singles matches in straight sets to notch the win.
RIT returns to action on Sunday, April 15 with a home contest against St. Lawrence that begins at 10 a.m. RIT will honor seniors
Jared Ingoglia (Essex Fells, NJ/West Essex Regional) and
Ben Lynaugh (Fairport, NY/Fairport) before the match.
