Box Score ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (4-2) won its second straight match to start the spring, rolling to a 7-2 victory over Daemen College (9-13) at the Gordon Field House Monday afternoon.
Kristen Zablonski (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and
Annie Steinbrink (Upper Dublin, PA/Upper Dublin) earned wins at both singles and doubles to lead the way for the Tigers.
RIT opened the match by winning two of three spirited doubled matches.
Claire Casalnova (Mars, PA/Pine Richland) and Zabloncki earned an 8-6 win at second doubles, while Steinbrink and
Maddy Price (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) defeated Jessica Robins and Morgan Park at third doubles by the same score. Daemen's Lorissa Yuen and Christina Stasiuk earned a 9-8 win at first singles, using a 9-7 tiebreaker to secure the victory.
Julia Smolowitz (Marlborough, MA/Hudson) gave RIT a 3-1 lead in the match with a decisive 6-0, 6-1 win over Allya Foster at sixth singles. Steinbrink and Zablonski clinched the match for RIT with wins at fifth and fourth singles, respectively.
Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Yuen at first singles, while
Shayna Ginster (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) closed out the match with a victory at second singles was forced to withdraw due to injury after the first set.
RIT is right back in action on Wednesday with a road match at Houghton College that gets underway at 5 p.m.
