TUCSON, AZ – The RIT softball team (1-5) dropped a pair of games at the Tucson Invitational on Monday afternoon. The Tigers fell to Dickinson College (4-1), 11-3 and Case Western Reserve University (6-0), 7-0.
In the opener, RIT opened the scoring in the top of the first inning before Dickinson broke the game open with nine second inning runs. The Tigers rallied with a pair of runs in the fourth inning.
Nicole Clayton homered and drove in four runs, while Kat Parise had three hits, a run scored and RBI. Kat Vill picked up the win, allowing six hits and three runs in five innings.
Victoria Barbessi (Oakton, VA/Flint Hill) singled and drove in a pair of runs, while
Erin Guinan (Geneva, NY/Geneva) singled and drove in a run.
Olivia Doret (Fairfax, VA/Chantilly), Racquel Estrada,
Madisen Baldwin (Washougal, WA/Washougal) and
Julia Vaillancourt (Briantree, MA/Braintree) also had one hit each.
In the second game, Case Western Reserve hurler Sidney Brannam threw a one-hit gem, walking one batter with one strikeout. She coerced eight flyouts and 12 groundouts.
Grace Tritchler was 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Dusstyn Reynolds and Sydney Wagner drove in a pair of runs apiece.
Estrada had RIT's lone hit, a clean single to center field, leading off the second inning.
RIT is right back in action on Tuesday, with contests against Hood College at 1 p.m. and the University of Dubuque at 3:30 p.m.
