ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team heads back on the road to play a pair of mid-week games at College Hockey America rival Penn State University on Tuesday, Nov. 20 and Wednesday, Nov. 21. Tuesday's game from Pegula Ice Arena starts at 6 p.m., while Wednesday's game begins at 3 p.m.
The Tigers (3-6-4, 1-2-0 CHA) enter Tuesday looking for their first four-game unbeaten streak since the 2014-15 season. RIT was most recently in action Friday night, scoring four goals in a span of 7:34 late in the third period to rally from a 4-2 deficit and defeat CHA rival Syracuse University, 6-4.
Logan Land (Turkey Point, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic) scored two goals, while
Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard),
Claudia Black (Newmarket, Ontario/St. Maximilian Kobe) and
Taylor Baker (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate Institute) added a goal and an assist apiece for RIT and
Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) dished out a pair of helpers. Goaltender
Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) made 38 saves in the win. RIT scored six goals in a game for the first time since Oct. 11, 2013, a 6-0 win over Vermont. The Tigers scored four goals in a period for the first time since Jan. 19, 2013.
Cornine leads the team in scoring with 11 points on eight goals and three assists, while
Brittney Gout (Caledon, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) has a team-best eight assists and is second with 10 points. Lanteigne leads all of Division I with 428 saves and is 11th with a .939 save percentage. She also has a 2.12 goals against average, while playing in all 13 games.
Penn State enters Tuesday's contest with a 5-7-0 overall record and is 0-4-0 in league play. The Nittany Lions were in action over the weekend at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, recording a 4-0 win on Friday and 1-1 tie Saturday. Natalie Heising leads Penn State in scoring with 16 points on seven goals and nine assists. Kelsey Crow also has nine assists to lead the team. Jenna Brenneman is 5-6-2 in net with a 1.84 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.
Penn State leads the all-time series between the two schools, 15-13-3. The two teams will also meet for two games on Feb. 22-23, 2019 from the Gene Polisseni Center.
