ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (1-1) men's basketball team fell to University of Rochester (1-0), 68-43 in non-conference action from Clark Gymnasium Tuesday evening.
RIT shot 27.9 percent from the floor on 17-of-61 shooting. The Tigers went 4-of-25 from beyond the arc, and made 5-of-7 from the foul line.
Cobey Adekanbi (Bloomfield, CT/Loomis Chafee) led RIT with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Marcell Davis (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Institute) chipped in seven points off the bench, while
Will Atkinson (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) had seven rebounds and four points.
Jacob Wittig led Rochester with 11 points, while Trent Noordsij added 10 points off the bench. Patrick Benka added nine points, while Ryan Clamage grabbed 11 rebounds for the Yellowjackets who shot 42.1 percent from the floor. Rochester held a 42-39 rebounding edge.
RIT trailed 36-25 at the half. The Tigers shot 28.1 percent from the floor on 9-of-32 shooting.
Chase Lewis (Ewing, NJ/Princeton Day School) led the Tigers with six points. Rochester shot 40.0 percent from the floor. Wittig and Benka led the Yellowjackets with six points apiece. Rochester outscored RIT 32-18 in the second half to pull away for the 25-point win.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 17 when the Tigers play at Wells College beginning at 2 p.m.
