ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team heads out on the road for a pair of non-league contests at St. Cloud State University this weekend. The Tigers and Huskies open the series at 7:07 p.m. EST Friday, Oct. 5 and play game two at 4:07 p.m. EST on Saturday, Oct. 6.

RIT is off to a strong start after going 1-0-1 last weekend to open the 2018-19 regular season at home against Holy Cross. Last Friday, Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) and Madison Itagaki (Glenview, IL/Chicago Mission) scored and Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) stopped all 25 shots she faced in a 2-0 RIT win. The following afternoon, Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) scored a power-play goal and Lanteigne stopped 24 shots in a 1-1 tie.

Larson and Lanteigne garnered College Hockey America weekly accolades on Monday. Larson was named the CHA Player of the Week, while Lanteigne earned Goaltender of the Week accolades. She has a .980 save percentage through two games this season. Both Cornine and Larson lead the team with two points apiece.

Friday's win was also the first at the university for Bruce B. Bates Women's Hockey Coach Chad Davis. Davis won 150 games over the last seven seasons at Division III Adrian College (2011-18).

St. Cloud State is looking for its first win of the season. The Huskies, who are a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, opened the 2018-19 season last weekend, suffering a pair of 3-2 losses at the University of Connecticut. Hannah Potrykus, Kayla Friesen, Megan Roe and Hallie Theodosopoulous scored goals for St. Cloud State. Janine Alder and Emma Polusny both played one game in net and each had 32 saves and a .914 save percentage. The Huskies finished the 2017-18 season with an 8-20-5 record and advanced to the WCHA Quarterfinals.

This weekend marks the first-ever meetings between the two schools.

Video and live stats will available for both games.
