Women's soccer suffers 1-0 loss at University of Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (7-4-2) women's soccer team lost 1-0 at cross-town rival the University of Rochester (7-6-1) Thursday evening from Fauver Stadium. The loss snaps a five-game unbeaten streak (3-0-2) by the Tigers. 

Shots were 11-7 in favor of Rochester, including a 6-3 edge in shots on target. RIT took four corner kicks to six for Rochester. Alyssa Salls (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) took the loss in net for the Tigers, making four saves. Emma Schecter got the win for Rochester, making three saves. 

RIT did generate scoring chances, including a shot from Danielle Losquadro (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) inside the first 16 minutes of the game that missed the Rochester goal by inches. Monique Polanco (Merrick, NY/John F. Kennedy) was fouled a yard outside the Yellowjackets penalty box late in the first half. Lauren Chester (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) rifled a free kick on target, but Schecter made the save for Rochester to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

Rochester took the lead on a goal from Carolyn Richards in the 50th minute. She scored on a rebound off a scramble in front of the RIT net. Salls kept the Tigers in the game, making three of her four saves in the second half. 

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 when the Tigers host Bard College at 12 p.m. as part of RIT's Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend.
