Women's soccer and Liberty League foe Rensselaer play to scoreless draw

TROY, NY -- The RIT (6-3-2, 1-2-2 Liberty League) women's soccer team and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (4-6-2, 1-2-2 Liberty League) played to a scoreless draw in Liberty League action Friday afternoon. It is the second straight game the Tigers have played to a scoreless tie on the road, drawing 0-0 at St. Lawrence last Saturday.

Shots were 18-14 in favor of Rensselaer. The Tigers fired four shots on net, while the Engineer steered 13 shots on target. Ingrida Ivaska (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland) got the start in net for RIT, playing the first 45 minutes and making three saves. Alyssa Salls (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) played the entire second half and overtime sessions, making nine saves. Joey Lyons made nine saves in net for RPI.

RIT's best first half scoring chance came off the foot of Marla Roberts (Penfield, NY/Home Schooled), whose sweeping shot was saved by Lyons with just under 19 minutes to play .

With the draw, RIT remains in a tied for seventh in the Liberty League standings with Rensselaer with five points. RIT returns to action on Saturday, October 13 when the Tigers face Skidmore College at 2 p.m. in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
