Baseball picks up pair of wins over Vassar Sunday to sweep weekend series

ROCHESTER, NY — The RIT baseball team (10-6, 6-1 Liberty League) swept a pair of games against Vassar College (5-12, 0-5 Liberty League) Sunday afternoon at sun-soaked Tiger Stadium. The Tigers won 11-4 and 6-3, respectively after earning a 13-3 win Saturday to sweep the weekend series over the Brewers.

"I really like the way we are playing right now," said RIT head coach Rob Grow. "The offense keeps responding well and the defense is making plays, which gives our pitching staff a ton of confidence."

Senior Phil Sammon (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) was 4-for-5 with a walk in the two games, raising his season average from .370 to .438.

Along with Gorman, Scialabba and Sammon also racked up three hits, while Navada Waterman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport), Daniel Capra (North Salem, NY/North Salem), and Myers each added one hit.

The next batter, Kajganich, hit a deep sacrifice fly, scoring Waterman, then Myers hit home Sammon and Gorman on a double to left center.
