Ryan Lee hits 200-goal plateau in 16-7 win for No. 7 men's lacrosse at Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY — Ryan Lee (Sharon, Ontario/The Hill Academy) became the first player in program history to reach 200 career goals, as the No. 7 RIT men's lacrosse team (9-2, 3-1 Liberty League) rolled to a 16-7 victory at Skidmore College (6-5, 2-1 Liberty League) Saturday afternoon.
 
Lee led all players with five goals on the day, giving him 203 for his career. Chad Levick (Newmarket, Ontario/Huron Heights Secondary) added three goals and an assist, while Braden Wallace (Oakville, Ontario/Abbey Park) (two goals and two assists) and Jay Vakiener (Fairport, NY/Fairport) (one goal and three assists) also chipped in with four points each. Cam Issac had two goals and a helper, while Kyle Killen (Peterborough, ON/Crestwood Secondary ) finished with a goal and two assists. Drew Tosaya (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) had a pair of assists and Dave Shuster (Columbus, OH/St. Charles Prep) had a goal and an assist. John Hill (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) (one goal),  Alec Sovocool (Homer, NY/Homer) (one assist), and Sean Nally (one assist) each had a point as well.
 
In net, Nick Nesbitt (Burlington, Ontario/Salisbuury School) made the start, making six saves and allowing just two goals in the first half, before Jon Berg (Chester, NJ/Mendham) came in and stopped five shots in the second half. Jimmy Spillane (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) won 15-of-25 face-offs for the Tigers and grabbed seven ground balls. JD Hall (Centennial, CO/Arapahoe) caused a pair of turnovers.
 
For Skidmore, Brendan Halloran led the way with three goals, while Colby Farnham added a goal and two assists. Will Lukas had a pair of assists, and five more players registered a point each. In goal, Chris Baughan made 19 saves in the game.
 
Shots were 47-33 in favor of RIT. The Tigers held a 40-20 ground ball advantage, and cleared the ball 23-of-28 times. RIT went 0-for-3 on man-up, and won 16-of-27 face-offs.
 
RIT jumped out to a 5-0 after the first frame and scored four more in the second quarter, including two in a row by Levick to end the period, taking a 9-2 lead into halftime. The team jolted out of the gates again in the second half, with two quick goals by Lee in the first 3:11, making it 11-2.
 
The Tigers maintained 7-5 scoring advantage in the second half. Two penalties by Skidmore in the final minutes all but sealed the game, as the Tigers improved to 3-1 in conference play.

RIT has now scored 78 goals over its four-game winning streak. The Tigers improved to 6-0 all-time against Skidmore.
 
RIT is back in action next Saturday, April 15, when the Tigers travel to take on Union College in more Liberty League action. The Tigers and Dutchmen will get underway at 12 p.m. from Frank Bailey Field in Schenectady, N.Y.
