Women's lacrosse wins first conference game of 2017 season, 18-3 over Bard

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (6-4, 1-2 Liberty League) women's lacrosse team won its first Liberty League game of the season, defeating Bard College (3-4, 0-3 Liberty League) 18-3 on Friday afternoon in cold and blustery conditions at RIT's Turf Field. The Tigers led 12-3 at halftime, and added six goals in the second half.

Shots were 31-6 in favor of RIT, who won the ground ball battle 23-7. The Tigers won 14-of-22 draw controls, and went 14-of-14 on clearing attempts.

Emily Livecchi (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) led the Tigers offensively with six points on four goals and two assists. She moves into fourth place all-time in scoring at the university with 156 career points on 116 goals and 40 assists. Her 116 career goals are seventh all-time at RIT.

Nicole Bingo (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder), Maegen Schmauder and Sydney DaCosta (New Bedford, MA/Bishop Stang) scored three goals apiece. Sammy Ward (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) and Cassie Swan (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) each scored a pair of goals, and Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) had a goal and an assist. Rebekah Snitkoff (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) got the start in net, picking up her sixth win of the season, making one save. Elizabeth Hughes (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) played the entire second half and did not allow a goal.

Ward won seven draw controls for RIT, added three ground balls and recorded three caused turnovers. DaCosta caused three turnovers, while Schmauder scooped up three ground balls and won three draw controls.

Caleigh DeCaprio, Dylan McDonald and Nicole Ellin each scored for the Raptors. Kaylynn Tran made eight saves in net.

RIT opened the game scoring the first seven goals of the game. Schmauder gave the Tigers a 7-0 lead on her second of two goals in the first half at the 12:43 mark. Bingo scored two of RIT's opening seven goals, while Livecchi, DaCosta and Ward also scored.

Ellin broke the RIT run with her free position goal at the 12:09 mark of the half. McDonald and DeCarpio would also tally in the first half for the Raptors.

RIT cruised in the second half, scoring six goals. Ward, Bingo, Livecchi, DaCosta and Swan (2) each scored in the second half for RIT, who out shot the Raptors 10-0 over the final 30 minutes of play.

The Tigers return to action tomorrow, April 8 when RIT hosts Vassar College at 2 p.m. on RIT's Turf Field.
