POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (5-12, 1-6 Liberty League) fell at Vassar College (15-4, 6-1 Liberty League) in its 2016-17 season finale, by a score of 9-0 at the Josselyn Tennis Courts on Saturday.
The Brewers, ranked 12th in the region and 40th nationally, swept the three doubles matches by scores of 8-4, 8-1, and 8-0. RIT's
Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Diana Kulawiec (Fairport, NY/Fairport) came close in their matchup with Shayna Becker and Tara Edwards, falling 8-4. In the singles, the Brewers did not drop a set. RIT's Ying and Vassar's Kate Christensen had a strong showdown in set one, with Christensen edging Ying, 7-5, before taking set two 6-0.
RIT will lose senior
Marie Jubert (Fairport, NY/Fairport) to graduation following this season.
