PITTSFORD, NY - Despite singles wins from
Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Maddy Price (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), the RIT women's tennis team (4-7) dropped a non-conference match, 7-2 at Nazareth College (8-7) at the Mendon Pool and Racquet Club Friday afternoon.
Nazareth would open the match by winning all three doubles contests.
Ying would get RIT on the board by rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jeanie McCarthy to snap a personal four-match losing streak and pick up her eighth win of the season. Price, who has emerged as one of RIT's more consistent performers, won handily, 6-0, 6-1 over Aliana Burgos of Nazareth to move to 4-1 this season.
Â
The Tigers would cut the Nazareth lead to 4-2 after Price's win, but the Golden Flyers put the match away with wins at fifth, third, and fourth singles in succession to pick up the win.
RIT is back in action on Thursday, April 6 with a home match against SUNY Geneseo that gets underway from the RIT Tennis Courts at 4 p.m.
