CLINTON, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (4-6) dropped a non-league match to Hamilton College (7-3) by a score of 8-1 at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Sunday afternoon.
RIT took the opening point of the day, as the doubles team of
Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Diana Kulawiec (Fairport, NY/Fairport) won a grueling match over Winnie Tang and Jane Haffer, 9-7.
From there, Hamilton would win the next eight points en route to the win. Ying and Tang slugged it out at first singles, as Ying won the first set, 6-4, before Tang rallied to win set two, 7-6. Tang would win the third set tiebreaker, 11-9 to take the match.
Kayla Llanos (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) enjoyed a strong match at sixth singles, despite dropping a three-set thriller to Claudia Morse. Morse took the first set, 7-6, before Llanos won set two, 7-5. Morse would win the third set 10-6.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, March 31 with a road match at Nazareth that gets underway at 4 p.m.
