ENGLEWOOD, FL -- The RIT (3-1) women's lacrosse team completed its Florida trip in style with a 17-3 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday evening. The Tigers completed their Spring Break trip to Florida with a 2-0 record, outscoring their two opponents 36-12. RIT has now won three straight contests.
Shots were 22-11 in favor of RIT, who won the ground ball battle 9-4. The Tigers won 13-of-23 draw controls, and were 6-of-9 on clearing attempts. RIT committed just 10 turnovers and went 7-of-8 on free position attempts.
Emily Livecchi (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) led RIT with six points on five goals and an assist.
Alanna Fallone (Penfield, NY/Penfield) tallied four goals, while
Sammy Ward (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) tallied three goals.
Sydney DaCosta (New Bedford, MA/Bishop Stang) scored two goals and added an assist, while
Nicole Bingo (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder),
Brooks Melnyk (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville East) and Maegen Schmauder each scored a goal.
Fallone, Schmauder and Livecchi each had two ground balls, while
Jordan Guerrieri (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) caused two turnovers. Bingo led the team with six draw controls.
Rebekah Snitkoff (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) got the win in net, making three saves in the first half.
Elizabeth Hughes (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) played the entire second half and made two saves.
RIT broke the game open scoring eight straight goals to close out the first half. Livecchi scored three of her five goals in the first half, while Fallone added a pair of goals. She and Livecchi each scored two more goals apiece in the second half. Ward scored late for RIT to make it a 17-3 final.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, March 22 when the Tigers host SUNY Geneseo at 4 p.m. on RIT's Turf Field.
