Box Score ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's basketball team moved to 7-0 on the season after defeating St. John Fisher College (3-4) 65-49 Saturday evening in game two of the Marks Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout from the University of Rochester.
Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) and
Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) were named to the All-Tournament Team.
RIT shot 40 percent from the floor on 24-of-59 shooting, compared to St. John Fisher, who shot 31 percent from the floor (17-for-54). The Tigers went 5-of-18 from behind the arc and 12-of-16 from the foul line.
In the first quarter RIT fell behind 10-7. A free throw from
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) and a 3-pointer from
Amanda Olsen (Glen Mills, PA/Archmere Academy) put the Tigers back in the lead, as they finished the first quarter up 13-12. The Tigers started the second quarter on a 10-0 run to keep the lead, and headed into the locker room up 30-26.
RIT kept the pressure up, out-scoring Fisher 20-11 in the third quarter to hold a 50-37 lead after 30 minutes, before holding a 15-12 edge in the fourth.
Okada had 15 points to go with five steals, while Wolfe also finished the night with 15 points and eight boards..Lynch and
Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) each notched 10 points each for the Tigers. Glaz added five rebounds, four steals and three assists.
It is the second consecutive season that RIT has defeated Fisher at the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Classic. RIT has won all seven games by double digits this season and is 7-0 for the second straight year.
The Tigers will return to action in 2018 when they are back at the University of Rochester to take on the No. 11 Yellowjackets on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 5 p.m.
