ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team will play its final two home games of the 2017 calendar year this weekend, Dec. 1-2, as College Hockey America rival Penn State University comes to the Gene Polisseni Center for a pair of games. Friday's contest begins at 2 p.m., while Saturday's contest begins at 1 p.m.
On Friday, RIT will hold a Tiger Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are urged to bring a new stuffed animal to throw on the ice after RIT's first goal. All stuffed animals will be donated to the Rochester Regional Health's Children's Unit. Saturday is Holiday Sweater Day. Fans who wear a holiday sweater receive a free food voucher.
There will also be a holiday skate at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3. Fans will receive a free team photo for autographs and can skate with their favorite players. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for Hockey Coaches Care.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for RIT staff, faculty and alumni, $3 for youth, and as always, admission is free for all RIT students (one ticket per valid ID). Tickets are available at the Gene Polisseni Center and Gordon Field House Box Offices, by calling (585) 475-4121 or by visiting

RIT looks to get back in the win column after finishing fourth at the Windjammer Classic last weekend hosted by the University of Vermont. RIT skated to a 1-1 tie against host Vermont on Friday, the Catamounts advanced to the championship game after beating RIT 1-0 in a three-round shootout. On Saturday, the Tigers fell to No. 2 Colgate, 6-1.
Claudia Black (Newmarket, Ontario/St. Maximilian Kobe) scored RIT's goal on Friday, while
Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) made 43 saves. On Saturday,
Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) scored for the Tigers, while
Jenna de Jonge (Abbotsford, British Columbia/George Elliot) made 25 saves.
Kandice Sheriff (Brampton, Ontario/) leads the Tigers in scoring with 10 points on three goals and seven assists. Cornine has a team-best five goals. Lanteigne is 3-5-1 with a 3.41 goals against average and a .922 save percentage.
Penn State enters the weekend with a 2-7-8 record, including a 0-2-4 mark in CHA play. The Nittany Lions have skated to four straight ties, including two last weekend at the Nutmeg Classic at Connecticut. Penn State skated to a 1-1 tie Friday against UConn and earned a 2-2 draw against Yale the next day. Natalie Heising leads Penn State in scoring with 10 points on four goals and six assists, while team captain Bella Sutton is right behind with eight points. Hannah Ehresmann and Daniela Paniccia have split time in net. Ehresmann is 2-3-6 with a 1.97 goals against average and a .920 save percentage, while Paniccia is 0-4-2 with a 1.73 goals against average and a .928 save percentage.
This weekend will mark games one and two of a four-game series between the two teams this season. The Tigers and Nittany Lions will also meet at Penn State on Feb. 16-17, 2018.
RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 13-11-3. Penn State won three of five meetings between the two schools in 2016-17, but the Tigers ended the Nittany Lions season in the CHA First Round last season, winning 2-1 at HARBORCENTER in Buffalo.
