Men's basketball falls to Oberlin in Brodie Tournament Championship

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (2-2) men's basketball team was defeated by Oberlin College (4-1), 75-52 in the championship game of the 33rd Annual Harold J. Brodie Tournament at Clark Gym Sunday afternoon. Anthony Lewis (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Robert Aguilera (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) were selected to the All-Tournament team. SUNY Cobleskill defeated D'Youville College 98-82 in the consolation game.

RIT shot 29.3 percent from the floor on 17-of-58 shooting. The Tigers made just 3-of-19 from behind the arc, and were 15-of-20 from the foul line. Lewis led RIT with 17 points, while Aguilera added five points and five rebounds. Troy Pierre-Louis (Providence, RI/Berkshire School) added seven rebounds and four assists.

Andre Campbell led Oberlin with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, He had seven rebounds, two assists and a block to earn Tournament MVP honors. Eli Silverman-Lloyd added 13 points and six rebounds, while Christian Fioretti tallied 11 points and had five assists.

RIT held slim leads in the first half, but would trail by five at the break. Two free throws by Lewis late in the opening half gave the Tigers a slim 18-17 edge. Oberlin closed out the half on a 12-6 run to lead by five at the break. Lewis led RIT with six first-half points, while Campbell led the Yeomen with eight points and four rebounds.

A pair of Lewis free throws in the second half cut the Oberlin to 50-44, but the Yeomen shot 59.3 percent in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 46-28.

RIT opens Liberty League play this weekend when the Tigers play at Bard College on Friday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.
