Women's hockey to play at University of Vermont's Windjammer Classic

RIT to play Vermont Friday and either Colgate or Minnesota-Duluth

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team is back in action over the holiday weekend, traveling to the University of Vermont for the Windjammer Classic. On Friday, RIT will play host Vermont at 7 p.m. No. 2 Colgate takes on Minnesota-Duluth in the first game Friday ay 4 p.m. Friday's winners face-off in the championship game at 7 p.m. Saturday, while the two losing teams play in the consolation game at 4 p.m.
 
The Tigers are looking to get back in the win column after suffering a pair of losses against College Hockey America rival Syracuse last weekend, 4-1 and 5-1. Kathryn Kennedy (Hamilton, Ontario/) scored her first goal of the season on Friday, while Brooke Baker (Saline, MI/Saline) tallied her first goal of the season Saturday. Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) made 36 saves on Friday and 25 on Saturday.
 
Kandice Sheriff (Brampton, Ontario/) leads the Tigers in scoring with nine points on three goals and six assists. Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) has a team-high four goals and six points, while Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep) also has six points. Lanteigne is 3-5-0 this season with a 3.79 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.
 
Vermont enters the weekend with a 5-9-1 mark, including a 3-6-1 record in Hockey East. The Catamounts lost a pair of home games last weekend against Boston University by scores of 7-1 and 3-1. Alyssa Gorecki leads Vermont in scoring with 13 points on five goals and eight assists. In net, Sydney Scobee has played in 10 games with a 4-5-1 record, 2.92 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.
 
Colgate, ranked No. 2 in the USCHO.com Division I national poll, is 13-1-0 this season, 5-1-0 in ECAC play. The Raiders have won six straight contests, including a 5-3 victory at Brown last Saturday. Colgate is out-scoring its opponents, 54-19 this season and has eight players with at least 10 points. Jesse Eldridge leads the team in scoring with 16 points on eight goals and eight assists. In net, Julia Vandyk and Liz Auby have played seven games apiece. Vandyk is 7-0-0 with a 1.14 goals against average and a .951 save percentage.
 
Minnesota Duluth is 7-8-0 this season and 5-5-0 in WCHA play. The Bulldogs have won four of their last five games, including a pair of victories against Minnesota State last weekend. Naomi Rogge leads the team in scoring with 13 points on seven goals and six assists. Goaltender Jessica Convery is 7-6-0 with a 2.01 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.
 
RIT is 8-3-4 all-time against Vermont, having last played them in 2014-15. RIT is 14-8-2 all-time versus Colgate and has never faced Minnesota-Duluth.
 
Both games will be aired online, with live stats available.
 
The Tigers return home next weekend, Dec. 1-2 to play CHA rival Penn State University. On Dec. 1, RIT will hold a Tiger Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are urged to bring a new stuffed animal to throw on the ice after RIT's first goal. All stuffed animals will be donated to the Rochester Regional Health's Children's Unit. There will also be a holiday skate on Sunday, Dec. 3.
