ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team takes on College Hockey America foe Syracuse University in a home-and-home series this weekend. On Friday, RIT hosts the Orange from the Gene Polisseni Center at 6 p.m. Saturday, the two teams meet at Syracuse's Tennity Ice Pavillion at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for RIT staff, faculty and alumni, $3 for youth, and as always, admission is free for all RIT students (one ticket per valid ID) on Friday. Tickets are available at the Gene Polisseni Center and Gordon Field House Box Offices, by calling (585) 475-4121 or by visiting
www.rittickets.com. Friday is a Tiger Den event, with giveaways for RIT students. In addition, it is a buy one, get one free ticket opportunity for all adults, faculty, staff, alumni and youth.
The Tigers dropped a pair of contests at CHA Rival Robert Morris last weekend, 6-1 on Friday and 5-2 Saturday. On Friday,
Kaelyn Johnson (Toronto, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs) scored RIT's goal, while
Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) made a career-high 59 saves. The following day,
Claudia Black (Newmarket, Ontario/St. Maximilian Kobe) scored both RIT goals and
Kandice Sheriff (Brampton, Ontario/) assisted on both tallies in a 5-2 loss, while Lanteigne made 48 saves.
Lanteigne has made 157 saves over her last three games. On Nov. 4, she made a then career-high 50 saves on 51 shots in a 2-1 overtime win over Boston University, earning CHA Goaltender of the Week and NCAA Second Star of the Week honors. She stopped 107 shots in the two games last weekend.
Sheriff leads the Tigers in scoring with nine points on three goals and six assists.
Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) has a team-high four goals. Cornine and Rushton are tied for second on the team with six points apiece.
Syracuse enters the weekend looking to stay unbeaten in conference play. Last weekend, the Orange opened league play by earning three points against Penn State, winning 3-0 on Friday and skating to a 2-2 tie the next day. The Orange gave No. 3 Boston College a stiff challenge on Nov. 4, falling 4-3. Stephanie Grossi and Kelli Roswell are tied for the team lead in scoring with six points as both have three goals and three assists. Alysha Burris has a team-best five assists. In net, Abbey Miller is 2-6-2 with a 2.52 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.
Syracuse leads the all-time series between the two schools, 13-7-2. Thirteen of the 22 meetings have either ended in ties or a one-goal difference, with seven going to overtime.
