RIT men's and women's soccer to host Liberty League Quarterfinals Tuesday

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's and women's soccer teams will host Liberty League Tournament quarterfinal games on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The men will host Clarkson University at 11 a.m., while the women host Clarkson at 2:30 p.m. Both games will be played on the grass at Tiger Stadium.

On the women's side, RIT (11-3-3, 4-2-3 Liberty League) finished tied for third in the Liberty League with 15 points. The Tigers enter Tuesday as the No. 3 seed, and are seventh in the league in scoring (1.33 goals per game), and second defensively (0.53 goals per game). RIT has outscored its opponents 23-9.

Emily Thiel (Seattle, WA/Roosevelt) leads the team in scoring and is tenth in the league with 13 points. She leads the league with nine assists, and is one assist shy of tying RIT's single-season record of 10. Riley Yankowich (Deerfield Beach, FL/Germantown Academy) is second on the team in scoring with 10 points on five goals. Mia White (Littleton, CO/Rocky Mountain Deaf School) is third in scoring with nine points and second with four goals. Kelly Rogers (Ardmore, PA/Haverford) is 11-3-3 in net for RIT. She is second in the league with a 0.51 goals against average and fourth with a .833 save percentage.

Clarkson (8-6-3, 4-4-1 Liberty League) enters Tuesday as the sixth seed and is ninth in the league in scoring (1.23 goals per game) and eighth defensively (1.29 goals allowed per game). Camrynn Careccia leads the team and is sixth in the league with 17 points. She is tied for third with eight goals. Elyse Green is sixth with a 1.23 goals against average and seventh with a .796 save percentage.

Clarkson beat RIT 1-0 on Sept. 19 in Potsdam, NY. The Tigers outshot Clarkson 12-4, but Madison Kather tallied the game-winner in the 86th minute off an assist from Careccia. Despite the loss, RIT is 22-7-2 all time versus Clarkson.

On the men's side, RIT (7-5-3, 5-2-2 Liberty League) finished fourth in the Liberty League standings with 17 points and is the No. 4 seed. The Tigers enter Tuesday as the highest scoring team in the league, averaging 2.33 goals per game. RIT is eighth defensively, allowing 1.40 goals per contest, outscoring its opponents 35-21.

Dean Kouroupas (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) is tied for the team lead and third in the league in scoring with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. Simon Garno (Hilton, NY/Hilton) als has 16 points on two goals and 12 assists. He is tied for third in the league in scoring, and leads the Liberty League in assists. Anthony DeFeo (Rochester, NY/Hilton) is third on the team in scoring with 12 points and five goals. Peter Cinibulk (Bellbrook, OH/Bellbrook) is 7-5-3 in net this season. He is sixth in the league with a 1.39 goals against average and has a .649 save percentage.

Clarkson (8-7-2, 4-3-2 Liberty League) enters Tuesday as the fifth seed and is tenth ninth in scoring (1.17 goals per game) and sixth defensively (1.18 goals allowed per game). Kevin Calnan leads the team in scoring with 11 points on five goals and an assist. Mack Walton is second in scoring with seven points, and Stephen Klimek is third with six points. Ian Roeloffs is 4-6-1 in net for Clarkson, and is seventh with a 1.41 goals against average and a .742 save percentage.

RIT beat Clarkson 2-1 in overtime on Sept. 30 at Tiger Stadium. Adam Bem (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) scored the game winner in the 100th minute. Kourpoupas tied the score at 1-1 with his goal in the 72nd minute. RIT enters Tuesday 24-20-4 all time versus Clarkson.

Admission to both games Tuesday is free. Tuesday's winners will advance to Hobart College on the men's side and William Smith on the women's side for semifinal action on Saturday, Nov. 4.
