ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's swimming and diving team began the 2017-18 season Saturday afternoon hosting Renselaer Polytechnic Institute as part of Brick City Homecoming & Family Weekend. The Tigers lost to the Engineers 216-84 on Saturday afternoon at Judson Pool.
Justin Morris (Holliston, MA/Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School) won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:01.68.
Joe Wang (Framingham, MA/Framingham) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:43.98), and was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:11.14).
Jason Cook (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) was third in the 100-yard freestyle (50.01), and Nick Genovese was third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.22).
In relay action, the team of Genovese,
Carl Schlehr (Maineville, OH/Kings), Morris and
Ryan Facchine (Fairview, PA/Fairview) placed second in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:40.17. The team of Morris, Cook,
Tyler Allen (Newark, NY/Newark) and Facchine placed third in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 3:22.84.
In diving action,
Alex Dieroff (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) won the 3-meter competition with a score of 267.65.
Ben Hamilton (Addison, NY/Addison) was third with a score of 223.05. Dieroff placed second in the 1-meter competition with a score of 229.75, while Hamilton placed third with a score of 222.35.
Jon Bauer (Fairview, PA/McDowell) was fourth with a score of 221.85.
RIT returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 18 when the Tigers face SUNY Oswego at 6 p.m. in Oswego, N.Y.
