Women's hoops cruises to second straight victory, 91-45 over Bard

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (11-7, 5-5 Liberty League) women's basketball team cruised to a 91-45 win over Bard College (0-16, 0-8 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from Clark Gym Friday evening. Ashlynn Palmitesso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) led 12 different Tigers in scoring with 22 points.

The Tigers shot 55.7 percent from the floor on 34-of-61 shooting. RIT went 7-of-17 from behind the arc, and went 16-of-17 from the foul line. In addition, RIT had 25 assists on 34 baskets and 16 steals, while winning the battle of the boards, 41-21.

Palmitesso shot 9-of-12 from the field en route to the 22-point performance, moving her to within 15 points of 1,000 for her career. Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) added 10 points, while Charlotte Myers (Boston, MA/Concord-Carlisle) had nine points grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Emily Nunez (San Marcos, CA/Mission Hills) and Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) scored eight points apiece, while Julia Bender (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/St. Margaret's) added seven points apiece. Whitney Kent (Hinsdale, NY/Cuba-Rushford) dished out a career-high four assists.

Andra Moye led Bard with 14 points and six rebounds. Annie Kissel tallied 10 points for the Raptors, who shot 32.0 percent from the floor.

RIT led 31-12 after the first quarter, 47-26 at the half and outscored the Raptors 44-19 in the second half.

RIT moves into a tie for fifth in the league standings, just a half game out of thr fourth spot. RIT plays five of its final seven games at Clark Gym.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday when they host Vassar College at 2 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gym.
