ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (9-4, 2-3 Liberty League) women's basketball team was defeated by Skidmore College (9-5, 6-0 Liberty League), 71-60 in Liberty League action from Clark Gym Friday evening. It is RIT's second loss of the season to the Thoroughbreds.
RIT shot 36.1 percent from the floor on 22-of-61 shooting. The Tigers went 3-of-18 from behind the arc, and were 13-of-15 from the foul line.
Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) led the Tigers with 18 points, while
Ashlynn Palmitesso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) added 17 points.
Abby Judd (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) tallied a season-high 12 points off the bench.
Kelly Donnelly led the Thoroughbreds with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Ari Fustini added 11 points and four assists, while Migle Vilunaite added 10 points and five rebounds for Skidmore who shot 45.6 percent from the floor.
RIT trailed 21-13 after the first quarter, 33-26 at halftime, and were down 10 points heading into the fourth quarter. Okada pulled RIT to within three points with her bucket with 4:09 to play in the quarter to make it 59-56 Skidmore. That would be as close as the TIgers would get as the Throughbreds made key shots down the stretch.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 when the Tigers host Rensselaer at 2 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gym.
