Women's tennis has four match win streak snapped at Division II Roberts Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's tennis team (4-1) had its four match winning streak to start the season snapped, falling to Division II Roberts Wesleyan College (6-4), 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was RIT's lone winner, securing a 6-1, 6-0 win over Marousia Bosch at first singles. Ying also represented RIT at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championsips at William Smith College on Saturday. She defeated Paige Webster of Union, 6-1, 6-0 in the first round, before dropping a tough three-set contest to Danielle Gianetti of Skidmore. Ying won the first set 6-4, before Gianetti stormed back to win set two, 6-2 and the third set tiebreaker, 10-8.

Roberts won all three doubles matches and the final five singles matches in straight sets. Valerie Luttman (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) just missed in her first set against Salome Darsilia, falling 7-6, before Darsilia took set two, 6-0.

The Tigers wrap up the fall portion of their schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 5 with a road match at Liberty League foe William Smith College that gets underway at 4 p.m.
