ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (5-2-1, 1-0-0 Liberty League) women's soccer team opened Liberty League play in stylish fashion on Saturday, defeating Clarkson University (4-4-0, 0-1-0 Liberty League) 4-0 at sun-drenched Tiger Stadium. Riley Yankowich (Deerfield Beach, FL/Germantown Academy), Sami Alur (Fremont, CA/Irvington), Mia White (Littleton, CO/Rocky Mountain Deaf School), and Anka Parzych (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) each scored for the Tigers who improved to 22-6-2 all-time versus Clarkson.

Shots were 16-5 in favor of the Tigers, who took 10 corner kicks to none for the Golden Knights. The Tigers fired 10 shots on frame. Sienna Fisher (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg) got the start in net, picking up her second win of the season for RIT, earning the shutout with three saves. Nicole Zlotnick took the loss for Clarkson, making five saves.

"We came out and played hard today," said RIT head coach Liz Masterson. "For our first conference game we had a great mentality, and that had a huge difference in how we played today."

The Tigers had three really good chances early in the first half. Danielle Losquadro (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) and Abbey Saia (Monroe, CT/Masuk) had shots from inside the Clarkson penalty box inside the first five minutes of the game. Zlotnik was up for the challenge early, making two big saves for Clarkson.

Losquadro had another great chance off a corner kick 14 minutes into action. She hit a shot from the top of the box that a Clarkson defender was able to save off the line and keep the game scoreless.

The Tigers finally broke through in the 24th minute with two goals. Yankowich gave RIT a 1-0 lead on her first goal of the season off assists from Alur and Erin Butler (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac). Alur started the play off a free kick, sending in a ball that Butler gathered and fired. Her shot deflected to Yankowich who turned and fired on the volley to give RIT a lead.

Alur made it 2-0 RIT on her second goal of the season 45 seconds later off an assist from Maxine Culhane (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville). Culhane sent in a cross to Alur who gathered, took a dribble to her right and blasted a shot into the top corner.

Culhane assisted on White's first collegiate goal in the 38th minute. Once again, Culhane sent in a cross that White gathered and fired into the open net giving RIT a 3-0 lead at halftime.
