ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (4-12) dropped a road contest against Division II Roberts Wesleyan (9-12), 7-2 at the RWC Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.
Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) played a hand in both victories to lead the Tigers. At first doubles, Ying and
Gianna Heaviland (Encinitas, CA/San Dieguito) defeated Natalia Cardona and Marousia Bosch 9-7. Ying then turned to singles, beating Cardona 6-4, 6-0 in the top flight match.
Heaviland took the first set in her match at second doubles against Bosch, but fell after a close battle in the tiebreak set, 6-7, 6-1, (10-8).
Marie Jubert (Fairport, NY/Fairport) also took the first set in her match against Marine Kennel in third singles, 6-3, but Kennel narrowly took the second set, 7-5, before picking up the match win in the tiebreak, 10-8.
The Redhawks took fourth through sixth singles in straight sets to grab the victory.
The Tigers will next face SUNY Oneonta on the road on Saturday, April 23.
