POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The RIT women's basketball team (17-4, 10-2 Liberty League) used a late third quarter run to earn a 73-58 victory against Vassar (7-14, 4-8 Liberty League) in a road conference game on Saturday afternoon. it is RIT's program-record seventh victory in a row.
Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) scored in double figures for the third straight game, dropping 22 points and adding five rebounds to lead the Tigers.
Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) scored 20 points, including 13-for-13 from the charity stripe to extend her RIT record to 32 consecutive made free throws. Glaz also recorded a double-double with 13 rebounds.
Ariella Rosenthal and Nicole Teta each scored 16 points to lead the Brewers, who were limited to 35 percent from the field in the contest.
The Tigers shot 40 percent from the field and an impressive 24-for-26 at the free throw line. The Tigers also outrebounded Vassar, 45-30. The victory was the first for RIT at Vassar, and second consecutive victory against the Brewers. The last time the teams played at Clark Gym on Jan. 22, RIT won for the first time against Vassar in a 65-62 victory.
The Tigers now stand in a tie with Clarkson atop the Liberty League standings at 10-2, with St. Lawrence and Union two games back. RIT and Clarkson will face off on Feb. 13 with first place possibly on the line.

Amy Reed. "It's not an easy team to beat, especially on the road, so I'm very happy with the win."
Primed with emotion from the senior day festivities, Vassar started the game on a 7-2 run. The Tigers countered with an 8-2 run of their own, leading 12-11 lead after one.
In the second, Vassar took a four-point lead, the largest lead for the Brewers the rest of the way.
Amanda Olsen (Glen Mills, PA/Archmere Academy) hit a three from the corner to reduce the deficit to one. A couple possessions later,
Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) hit the three from the wing off of a screen, giving the Tigers the 21-19 lead. The Brewers eventually went on a 7-2 spurt to hold a 26-23 halftime lead.
After the break, the Tigers were very aggressive on the boards, getting second and third shot opportunities as they began to pull away. RIT went on a 14-1 run during a span of four minutes, stretching the lead to 42-29. Vassar rallied in the final period, reducing the deficit to as low as seven with just over a minute remaining, but clutch free throws by Lynch and Glaz sealed the deal for RIT.
The Tigers will return home on Friday with a matchup against league leader St. Lawrence at 8 p.m. at Clark Gym.
