ROCHESTER, NY — The RIT women's hockey team is off to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for two non-conference contests this weekend. The Tigers and Engineers will face off at the Houston Field House on Friday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.
The Tigers (2-14-0, 1-5-0 College Hockey America) are coming off a weekend split in two close road battles against conference opponent Lindenwood. RIT fell 2-0 in Friday's game, before claiming its first CHA win of the year on Saturday, 2-1. Kathryn Kennedy (Hamilton, Ontario) scored the game-winning goal Saturday, while Caitlin Wallace (Brantford, Ontario/Assumption Collegiate) also scored. Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) stopped 28 of 29 shots in the win.
Kennedy and Wallace both scored their third goals of the season in RIT's win on Saturday. The two forwards lead the team in goals with Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard). Cornine is atop the squad with six points (three goals and three assists) this season.
The Engineers enter the weekend with a 4-11-1 record, including a 2-4-0 mark in conference play. Rensselaer has lost its last four games, including two at home against CHA foe Mercyhurst last weekend. The Lakers beat the Engineers 4-1 on Friday, before taking Saturday's contest 7-1. Sabrina Repaci leads Rensselaer with nine points (six goals and three assists), while Laura Horwood is just behind with six points (two goals and four assists). Lovia Selander has played in 14 of the Engineers' 16 games in net, with a 4-9-1 record, two shutouts, a 2.82 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.
The Engineers took both contests last season at the Gene Polisseni Center, by scores of 6-2 and 3-1, respectively. Kandice Sheriff (Brampton, Ontario) scored her first collegiate goal for the Tigers in that series last season. RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 14-9-4. The last time the Tigers defeated the Engineers was in 2014.
Both games will have video and live stats.
