ST. CHARLES, MO — The RIT women's hockey team dropped a 2-0 road contest at College Hockey America foe Lindenwood Friday night at Lindenwood Ice Arena.
The Lady Lions just out-shot the Tigers 22-21, in a game that saw 10 combined power-plays. RIT was 0-for-6, while Lindenwood was 0-for-4 with the extra skater. Sophomore
Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) fired eight shots on goal in the contest for the Tigers.
The scoring began in the first, as Lindenwood found the back of the net, as Cierra Paisley tallied her first career goal. The Tigers headed to the first intermission trailing 1-0, but leading in shots, 5-3.
The second period saw no scoring, despite two power-plays for each team. The Tigers came out in the third period and out-shot the Lady Lions 7-6, but couldn't find the equalizing goal. Carla Goodwin added an empty-net goal for Lindenwood with 33 seconds left, making it a final score of 2-0.
RIT goaltender
Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) stopped 20 of 21 shots in the loss, while Lindenwood's Jolene deBruyn stopped all 21 shots she faced for her first win and shutout of the season.
Lindenwood improves to 1-9-1 overall and 1-3-1 in College Hockey America play. RIT falls to 1-14 overall and 0-5 in league play.
